Something Bright and Cheery just for Spring

Youtube and I seem to be having a disagreement. You'll have to follow the links to see and hear these artists. I was recently introducted to two new musicial groups: Lunasa and Natalie MacMaster . You can hear Lunasa and watch pictures from someone's trip to Ireland on youtube . Natalie MacMaster accompanies some Irish step dancers in this video . I really like their sound -- they make my feet tappy happy.

Sounds Like Fun

Oasis Dance Camp * Camp WEST October 6-10 on Vashon Island in Washington. Classes from Cassandra. Sigh.

Beat It

One of the darling ladies I work with is organizing a team from KLAS to walk for Breast Cancer Awareness in the 2010 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event on Saturday, May 8 held in Salt Lake City. It's such a great cause I wanted to give a shout out. It's also one of the days I wish I had a time turner necklace . I'll be in Millcreek Hollow in Marriott-Slaterville that day cheering them on from afar. I'm sure donations are always welcome... You can support the cause too by Joining/creating a team , registering to "Sleep in for the Cure" , or supporting the KLAS team! General info

Maturity v. Age

I found a questionnaire that scores emotional intelligence, something I've been pondering for the past week or so. I found it interesting and wanted to share. What happens if you get a negative score?!? Please rate each item as outlined below according to your life experience. Assign: a "1" score each time you answer "Rarely", a "0.5" score each time you answer "Sometimes", and a "0" score each time you answer "Often" to each item in the questionnaire. Then add up your total EMQ score. Questions: 1. I look to others to validate my decisions before I act on them. 2. I tend to follow rather lead others. 3. Taking responsibility frightens me and so I avoid it. 4. Being on my own makes me feel uncomfortable. 5. I rely on others to make me feel secure. 6. I tend to make snap decisions. 7. I rarely stop and think through what I'm going to do next. 8. I tend to make impulsive decisions. 9. I'm generally an anxious person....

Treasures

I am a collector of many things: dust, craft supplies, and recipes to name a few. Recently I stumbled across a new recipe website while searching for a restaurant in Atlanta. What better way to bookmark it than in my blog? I love that you can select a recipe to make in the comfort of your own home based on a main meal ingredient you want to use, the type of dish, preparation method or course. And they are famous to boot! Hmmmm.... Maybe I'll try Dutch Kitchen's Mud Pie or Harry Caray's Chicken Visuvio or Broccoli Salad or Tomato Basil Soup or Blue Willow Inn's Gingerbread with Lemon Sauce or Collard Greens . What's for dinner?

Thankful Giving

So a friend blogged about a giveaway. Naturally I had to check it out and now I'm craving Spring . C Jane is giving away an annual Thanksgiving Pointe family pass this year. I want it. Bad. Here is my post and a link to her blog - here's hoping it's my key to the goods. (If you enter and win, well, at least I've touched greatness...)

MLIA

New found love in MLIA : Last night some friends and I went to Toys R Us at midnight with about a thousand other eager Black Friday shoppers. Except we weren't there to shop. We were dressed as Spartans, and we walked up and down the line, and shouted out a speech encouraging our fellow warriors to stay strong and take heart in the upcoming battle for their children's happiness. MLIA Sure wish I would have heard about this sooner. It would have been awesome to try.

Oh Yum!

I found these cupcakes in a random blog stalking and fell in love. So holiday-festivish! They look delish.

Ro-Tel Chicken Recipe

This recipe came from a co-worker at a potluck Halloween luncheon. It was Yummmm! 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts 1 can Ro-Tel tomatoes 1 can cream of chicken soup 1 lb. Velveeta cheese 1 med. onion, chopped (or 2 Tbs. dried minced onion) 1 pkg. Doritos (we usually use ¾ of the bag) Bake or boil the chicken and cut it up into bite-size pieces. In a saucepan, slowly heat the tomatoes, soup and cheese. In a 9x13-inch pan, put 1 layer chicken, 1 layer chopped onions, 1 layer Doritos. Pour cheese-and-soup mixture over the top. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

Dear to my Heart

Summer at the ranch. The old family home and bunk house with the Cockscomb in the background left. Sigh.
