What's for Dinner?

Ever loathe the weekly (or daily) grocery trips? Ever get to the grocery store and wonder what happened to your list? Wish you could automatically generate one rather than having to plan one out? Want a monthly calendar to help you plan meals? Need new meal ideas to add to your staples? Nicole blogged about this website and its dinner planning hints and tips. You can create your own online recipe database and share recipes. I think this sounds like a fabulous (and free ) idea! After Twilight

Mom and I went to see Twilight this afternoon. I'm still a little queasy from all the quick camera movements and sitting so near the screen. Overall, I liked the flick. I don't know if it would have made as good of an impression if I didn't already know the storyline. Half of my enjoyment came from the expectation of what was coming next. Part came from the "crowd" participation. It was almost like being a part of a melodrama with the cheers and boos and screams from the audience. I'm not totally sold on Edward or Bella. I pictured both characters very differently from the movie depiction. That said, I'm already planning to see it again. Not so close this time, please. Any takers?

Getting in the Mood

I've been fighting it. Thanksgiving hasn't come yet! But, seeing this wreath puts me in the mood for Christmas. Thanks, Grandin Road !

Braving the Tide

Another find, courtesy of Andrea ! Her pen saved the day on our Park City adventure . My pen now saves me time and again. I was a skeptic, but am now a believer. I love that pen!

Yum, Gum!

Andrea shared her pack of gum last night. Pomegranate. Delightful! Thanks, Andrea! (Disclaimer: I don't remember the pack looking like this or being a mixed flavor, but it was the only pomegranate Trident image I could find.)

Feeling the Christmas Budget Crunch?

(Warning: this post is not for the faint of heart or easily embarrassed.... It may also be a post with a limited time engagement.) Crystal sent me an email about a nifty homemade Christmas slipper craft idea for those on a tight gift budget. It made me laugh and I wanted to share. These bedroom slippers are soft and hygienic, equipped with potentially non-slip grip strips on the soles, fresh (optional built in deodorant feature), convenient (no more bending over to mop up spills), completely disposable, biodegradable, and environmentally safe. They come in three convenient sizes: (1.) Regular, (2.) Light and (3.) Get out the Sand Bags. Materials (per pair): Four maxi pads Decorations (optional) Instructions: Lay two maxi pads out flat (for the foot part). Wrap a second one around each flat pad to form the toe area/top. Tape or glue each side of the top pieces to the bottom foot part. Decorate the tops with whatever you desire, silk flowers, buttons, ribbons, etc.

Anticipating Twilight

So I may be just slightly obsessed.... The movie comes out THIS FRIDAY. Here are some trailers in case you haven't seen them yet (or you want to see them again). Props to Angie (my friend from work) for teaching me some of her mad media editing skillz.

Finally Five

IC turned FIVE on Saturday, November 15th. Hooray for birthdays! Becca baked her this princess castle cake. Isn't it darling? It was delicious too!

In Sicily, Women Are More Dangerous than Shotguns

In Orem, it's Wiseguyz that's a-gonna get ya. I love this pizza! My friends Kristy G. and Deb introduced me to it about 2 and a half months ago. I've hit it three times since. When I think of pizza, this is the pizza I want. This small pizzeria (located near K-mart in Orem) is best for Summer sitting on the outside lawn, delivery, or take out. There is not much dine-in space. How bad is it if the owner recognizes you when you come/call in and that he knows what you are likely to order? He remembers our past conversations, makes recommendations based on what he knows I like, etc. It's almost like I have a Pizza Guy (not a Purse Lady). Do I need an intervention?

Halloween Recap

My goal for the past several posts has been for brevity. As you can clearly see, I've hit it every time! I'm repenting and letting the pictures do the talking (mostly) here. These were taken at our KLAS Halloween Party. Here I am with the Marketing Team and then with Marketing and our Legal Counsel. You can view more information from Jenifer and Kristen 's posts. Props to Jenifer and Kristen for sharing their pictures!

Do these REALLY work?

I received an email today from a website that wants me to subscribe to their supposedly ubber successful online hook up scene. The subject line did catch my attention, drew my curiosity, and make me laugh. Thought I would share. See the original article here . Pickup Lines that Actually Work "Hey baby, what's your sign?" is so 1975. Steal one of these 6 non-cheesy pickup lines instead and you'll see that approaching strangers is easier than it seems. If you’re the type of man who thinks that asking “if I told you that you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?” is likely to lead to an actual date, you may need some help. While some pickup lines sound great in a bar with your friends, out in the real world they’re likely to fall flatter than drywall. So what’s a guy to do? If you’re actually trying to initiate conversation with a girl, you’ll keep actual ‘lines’ to a minimum, relying instead on spontaneous actions based on individual situations. However, n

Aunt Dalene

Here is her obituary.

Il y a (In English)

In response to Karyn's post, yes, I have studied French. I don't know that I would claim to know French very well. I get by. Here is a rough translation of the song I posted about earlier. Someone else may be able to correct where I fall short. Enjoy! There is There are thyme, heather, and a pine wood. Nothing with guile. There are streams, clearings (not sure what this part means). There are odors of mint and fireplaces with fires inside. There are days and nights that pass slowly, and the story goes on in the same old way. And far from everything, far from me, it is there that you feel you are home, there that you leave, where you return every time, and where all will end up. There are children, grandmothers, a small church, and a large coffee. There is at the far end the cemetery, joy, miseries, and times passed. There is a small school with wooden benches just as in previous times. There are pictures that stick to the end of your fingers and your beating heart. And far fro

In the Blink of an Eye

This afternoon my mom's oldest sister passed away. It seems so strange to know that she is gone. Her spirit lives on and she is relieved of the illnesses her body had held. Shelly (her youngest daughter who is about eight or so years older than me) and I were talking about what a wonderful reunion she must be having with her parents and Stan (Shelly's first husband). We sorrow at her passing and for those left behind, especially Uncle Barth. He was the picture of shock and grief tonight. I am glad that all of her children were able to spend some time with her before she left. Later, mom reminised about memories she had of her sister while she was growing up. Dalene was nearly 10 when my mom was born. Most of her memories began with a teenaged Dalene. One memory happened when my mom was eight, while her mom was at a Relief Society meeting and Dalene was in charge. Gayla wanted to go roller skating, but Dalene told her she couldn't go. Gayla and her friends went roller skatin

Il y a

I love this song... (Angie, Would you someday teach me how to add youtube the COOL way?)
