Faire Fowl

I recently finished reading The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale. It was thoroughly entertaining! I haven't read the Grimm tale, so I don't know the differences between it and her retelling. I loved the plot and the lightness of the book. Her writing contained a lot of imagery--which I adore. It contained, drama, romance, love, mystery, treachery, and adventure.

Hale creates an enchanting world where anything can happen and fits in well. Someone who can talk to animals or nature? That seems plausible in this fantasy world. It puts me in mind of the silver spoon taken away--that's when character shines through.

This is a book I could recommend without qualms or reservations. The violence is not too bloody nor too violent. The love is not too steamy or over the top. The language is not something in need of censure. Parts of the storyline were a little predictable, but were easily forgiven.

Laura and I are currently reading Princess Academy together. Think she could handle Goose Girl as well? Thanks for the review and we'll miss you this weekend. Know we are thinking/praying for you!

Melinda, I think Laura would do well with it. It's pretty exciting and light-hearted. There is intrigue and fighting and some danger, but it all resolves well.

Hi Andrea! That sounds like a cool book. I have a question not related to this post. I noticed that I have the same background as you, but the sides of my background are a lot wider. Did you do anything to make yours skinner?

There were two options of this pattern. I chose one of them and I bet you chose the other one. I almost chose the other one, but it looked like it had a more narrow text section. Otherwise, I'm not sure. Magic? lol

Let's Get It Started

Today I found a new online party planning resource . Holiday, birthday, bridal shower, baby shower, weddings, etc. It helps you create invitations or ecards, is customizable, offers list management and guest list management, sends event/birthday reminders, manages potluck sign up lists, links to Twitter and Facebook, helps you decide on a date, links to your e-calendar, links to party planning supplies, manages a to-do list, offers party planning ideas, hints and tips, and is pretty much amazing. In addition, it is free. I'm hooked.

Shot and Chaser

I did it! Today I braved a shot of wheat grass and am forever grateful to the Jamba Juice employee (Alexa) who recommended the orange juice shot as a chaser over an orange wedge. I'm not sure why today was such a momentous day. Wheat grass is something I've wanted to try for a while, but haven't dared do - kind of like my purchasing soy milk and hesitance to drink. (Thanks, Renee , for the recent soy smoothie introduction!) All I can say now is wow, wheat grass - talk about fresh!
